My strategy is to over-plan to reduce the chance of being put on the spot. (Bear in mind that I’m 19 & have only done like 4 interviews, so you may want to take all of this with a grain of salt, haha). I like to learn as much as I can about the company and position I’m applying for. Be prepared to walk the interviewer(s) through your resume Think of answers to potential scenario q’s. Before interviewing to be a camp counselor I thought of q’s (specific to my job) like WWYD if: a child gets injured or goes missing; a kid is upset; there is a physical fight, etc. I was actually asked all three of these questions lol. Being familiar with workplace policy and procedures was helpful for this. I read a bit about PEI child care laws and read the camp’s parent handbook. Consider q’s like: describe an experience with conflict and conflict resolution; reflect on a time when you were under pressure (e.g., at school/work) and what you did to manage your time & tasks ; describe a time when you had conflicting priorities and how you handled the situation. The STAR method for answering q’s seems to be popular. I use it while planning my answers to make sure I stay on track and only include pertinent info You can buy time by saying ‘that's a great question’ or partially ‘re-stating’ the question at the beginning of your answer. I take deep (but not noticeable) breaths while the interviewer asks their q’s. I need to activate my PSNS as much as possible 😂 Come up with 2 open-ended questions to ask at the end of the interview. There are lots question ideas online
