I located this email address online for your organization, but apologize if this has reached you in error or if there would be a better email address to share this information with. I am reaching out to let you and your organization know about a research study that we are currently recruiting participants for, called the “Autism Pregnancy Project: A Co-Designed Study”. This project is being led by myself (Kayla Tellier, Autistic Advocate) and Christina McDonnell, PhD (University of Wyoming). This project started out of there being a lack of information regarding pregnancy experiences and support for Autistic people. Our study explores the specifics of sensory experiences during pregnancy for Autistic Individuals (both formally diagnosed and those who self-identify) and struggles with the healthcare system in order to develop support strategies in the future.

Any Autistic individuals (including self-identified) are eligible if they:

• Have been pregnant

• Are currently 18 years of age or older

• Currently living in Canada or the United States

• Comfortable reading and writing in English

• Experienced pregnancy in Canada or the United States

The research study consists of one online survey that participants can complete at any time and at any location they wish. The online survey is estimated to take around 1.5 hours, and participants who complete the survey will receive a $20 gift card for their time. Gift cards are emailed through Amazon. For participants in the US, the $20 is in US dollars. For participants in Canada, the amount will be the CAD equivalent.

After completing the survey, participants can sign up for an optional 30-90 minute individual follow up meeting over Zoom to share more about their experiences and give additional feedback to Kayla Tellier (Autistic Advocate) and other study staff if they would like. Participants who complete the follow up meeting will receive another $10 Amazon gift card via email.
