Welcome to National Autism News -

Following an impactful Summit, we are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). Scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 4:00 PM EST, this year's AGM will be held virtually. The agenda will include updates on initiatives, projects, and accomplishments, as well as voting on the following:

  1. Election of Board Directors

  2. Approval of financial statements

  3. Appointment of auditors

  4. Updates to bylaws

We extend a warm welcome to all attendees. Please note that only Organization and Community Members will have voting rights on the resolutions. Stay tuned as we post more information on our website!

Siyu (Suzanna) Chen, the recipient of the Third Annual Jim and Ginette Munson Autism Leadership Award, will be the guest presenter of our 2024 Annual General Meeting.Siyu (Suzanna) Chen is an Autistic person who is passionate about disability equality and youth leadership. Her activism involves everything from performing in a fundraising concert for a local autism non-profit in Greater Vancouver, exhibiting photographs at a neurodivergent creativity conference, writing articles about disabled students for her university, and representing disability-inclusive Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) campaigns by international charities during United Nations events.If you don't want to miss Siyu's presentation, make sure to reserve your spot!

Read the Latest Issue of the Canadian Journal of Autism Equity, "Autistics and Housing"

The latest issue of the Canadian Journal of Autism Equity, Autistics and Housing, was released on May 1st, 2024. This fourth edition of the CJAE features works primarily about the challenges faced by Autistics related to housing.Established in 2021 in collaboration with McMaster University, The Canadian Journal of Autism Equity (CJAE) is an open-access e-journal focused on critically engaging with a variety of equity discussions within the autism community and public policy. Seeking authorship primarily by first-voice Autistic people or people with lived experience with autism and intersectionality, CJAE seeks to offer a platform to amplify marginalized voices and share these perspectives with decision-makers and Canadians alike.

We are happy to announce the release of the results of the 2023 Pandemic Canadian Autism Needs Assessment Survey.This survey helped better understand the evolving impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Autistic people and the services and supports they access. The survey and survey report were developed in partnership with autistic people, caregivers, Autism Speaks Canada, Autism Alliance of Canada, and McMaster Autism Research Team, with financial contribution from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

DAWN Canada is leading a new research project, Girls Without Barriers.

This projects aims to bring girls, young women, and gender diverse youth who identify as having a  disability or experience challenges similar to a disability together to share their experiences of inclusion, exclusion, belonging, and to spark their perspective on creating a world without barriers for diverse youth in Canada.

This project is funded by the Canadian Women’s Foundation (CWF).
