Meditation and Other Types of Self Care
I wanted to start a category where we can share different types of self care. Anyone can add a new comment with a new type of self care they've tried or describe their experience with something someone else has already posted. Some types of self care, just to prompt your thinking, are:
Mental Self-Care: Do you do mindfulness and meditation, relaxation techniques like deep breathing or muscle relaxation, or intellectual stimulation like reading or puzzels?
Physical self care: Any tips to help others with exercise and movement, adequate rest and sleep, nutritious eating?
It could even be a particular TV show, music, whatever you do to promote your well being. You might give a suggestion to someone else that helps them improve their well being. Peers helping peers.

This is very interesting. I had never looked at self-care like this before but it makes a lot of sense. Although I disagree that social media belongs on that list even though I can't seem to stay off it. ☹️
"Dr. Daniel Wendler (an Autistic Psychologist), wrote a helpful article on self-care where he breaks it into two categories:
Self-Soothing: Activities that feel good in the moment and help us manage stress (e.g., stimming, sensory self-care, scrolling social media, indulging in comfort foods, or watching Netflix).
Self-Nourishing: Activities that might require more effort but offer long-term benefits (e.g., prioritizing sleep, eating nutrient-dense meals, or moving your body)."
