This is an interesting post from Devon Price.

It came in his newsletter last June, and I’ve read it 2 or 3 times now. I really can’t decide what I think of it.

“Today’s questions come from neurodivergent people who, despite working hard at accepting themselves and unmasking, still find that they are riddled with shame, and unable to imagine a future in which they are happy. Here’s our first anonymous question “Any tips for what to do when unpacking shame seems to just keep bringing up more new layers? (I have a tendency to ruminate and a talent for inventing new reasons to feel bad!)”

Devon’s response starts with a quote from Marc Maron:

”People often ask me “What makes you feel joy?” And I’m like “What the fuck are you talking about? What could that possibly mean??”

here are a few paragraphs from Devon’s response:

“What if you expect that some of the time, maybe even…

My saga with Embrace Autism and obtaining the Disability Tax Cert continues. After being told “Please be assured that Dr. Arora has all of the information needed from previously” I received notification again from CRA “You have provided us with a completed Form T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate. We needed more information, so we sent a questionnaire to Dr. Jagpreet Arora on March 21, 2025. We cannot allow you the credit for the 1986 to 2025 tax year(s). Although we received the completed questionnaire we requested from Dr. Jagpreet Arora, we did not receive the additional medical documentation we requested. Due to not enough medical information, we cannot determine your eligibility for the DTC. In order to determine eligibility for the prior years, we require medical information from a medical practitioner that describes the effects of your impairment for those years…We will review your claim when we receive more medical information from a medical practitioner."

I was ready to accept being denied but somehow this is worse as I’m not only not getting the tax credit, I feel like I’ve wasted all this time and money with Embrace Autism over almost 3 years.

So I sent CRA’s message to Embrace Autism this morning and her assistant responded that it sounds like they’d like to see a copy of the assessment. That really wasn’t my take since the assessment contains so much filler…generic information about autism that’s not even specific to me. I don't think CRA will scroll through a 48 page report looking for stuff. What CRA is asking for is for Dr Arora to complete a questionnaire they sent her in March with medical information that describes the effects of my impairment for the 1986 to 2025 tax year(s). Meaning, I think they’re looking for very specific information for those years. Info she omitted from the first assessment she submitted last January.

It's very discouraging because I thought they had lots of experience with autistic people and completing these forms and it's obvious they misled me.
