Autism, Pets & AAT

After today’s meeting I decided to look into autism & connections with animals, as well as animal assisted therapies. I linked a couple interesting reads. Still have to finish reading the research paper though since it’s quite long.

r/aspergers, r/aspergirls and r/autism on Reddit have lots of discussions about autism and feeling connected to animals (you just need to search for it!)

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to 'prove' to other people that you have empathy when verbalizing your thoughts and feelings requires enormous effort. Of course, this isn't to say that it's not worthwhile to put effort into verbal communication. The ease of bonding with animals is, however, very appealing...!

I can take half an hour to articulate a single thought, or I can write & edit a five-page essay in an hour. Never really know what kind of day it's going to be!
